A podcast is an audio file or a multimedia file that you can upload to the Internet in order for other people to download it and listen to its content.

The term podcast comes from mixing the words iPod and broadcast (transmission).

Podcasting began to catch hold in late 2004, though the ability to distribute audio and video files easily has been around since before the dawn of the Internet.

A podcast could talk about diverse subjects, it could be just one person talking or it could be as a radio program as well. Nowadays a lot of people use podcast on the internet and it has become a very useful tool to use, especially on educational purposes.
